The 1D, 3D, 4D, 6D and “Shake & Boom” have the same capabilities for detecting vertical Earth motion. The 3D & 6D replicate these abilities for lateral motion, providing the user with a fuller view of earth motion in all 3 dimensions. The 4D & 6D have a 3 dimensional accelerometer built into the board which is interesting for people who live in earthquake zones. Even during strong motion, earth motion should remain on-scale with the added benefit of being able to detect lateral motion as well.
