In the NSR-10 the guidelines for the installation of seismic instrumentation are presented, however, there are few documented cases of buildings with permanent instrumentation of this type in the municipalities of the Area Metropolitana del Valle Aburrá. In order to improve the understanding of seismic phenomena and their effects on local structures, the SIATA Tower was selected as a pilot test building for structural health monitoring using low cost equipment that has 3 orthogonal acceleration components and a vertical geophone; making it possible to detect earthquakes and determine the real response of the building through the collection, storage, processing and analysis of data in real time.
